A Favorite Book

It is music to my ears to hear a child, with tears in their eyes, exclaim, "That was the best book I have ever read!" This is our goal as educators - to match books and readers and help our children  "Fall in love with books"!

We want our students to become "lifelong readers", but do we give them enough time, enough opportunity, enough just right book choices to "just read?"

Surround children with books, provide choice, read aloud to them, experience books together, join a book club, talk about books and reading, make sure they see the adults in their life reading for information AND for pleasure........share a book that you "fell in love with" and help your child find theirs, too!

As we head into the week of Thanksgiving (by far my favorite holiday), let's take time to be truly thankful .....enjoy our loved ones, relax, and find a good book to READ! Traveling? bring one along to listen to in the car.
Happy Thanksgiving and Thank YOU for sharing your wonderful children with us.

Is there anything better than sharing a good book?

Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help a child prepare for reading and for learning.
